DI provides OFTP2 support for Volvo Group suppliers
December 2009 - Volvo Group Europe have informed their suppliers that, over the next 12 months, they will be replacing all EDI communication using ISDN and X.25 with the Internet-based communication protocol OFTP2.
Data Interchange can support you with everything you will need to safely manage this migration. Our ODEX software has full support for the OFTP2 protocol - indeed, Data Interchange played a significant part in the development of OFTP2 and is therefore ideally placed to offer support to all suppliers affected by this change.
For existing ODEX users, we recommend an upgrade to the latest version of the software. This is available to download from here, using your current details.
For new customers, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Both new and existing customers will require a digital certificate from ODETTE (the standards body responsible for the OFTP2 protocol). You can find out more about certificates here, or contact us with any questions.
"Managing Business Continuity” through Jaguar Land Rover Migration from Ford
October 2009 - With a history of providing EDI software and services to the Ford Motor Company for over 20 years, Data Interchange fully understands the demands of, and requirements for, the provision of secure and reliable EDI services linking suppliers to Ford.
The purchase of JLR by TATA, in March 2008, and the appointment of a new EDI service provider to manage EDI supplier communications, will impact JLR suppliers in different ways.
Data Interchange recognises, particularly in the current challenging economic environment, how important it is that suppliers can have confidence in the stability and certainty of key operational processes.
As JLR migrate to a new system, Data Interchange aims to significantly reduce the risks from the migration and provide JLR suppliers with certainty around continuity of service. Data Interchange is working with JLR suppliers to establish EDI communication links through DINET. These suppliers have identified that by using DI’s DINET service, they are assured of a reliable, managed connection to JLR.
The diagram below illustrates the solution DI is able to offer.

June 2009 - Data Interchange is in the first round of software vendors to complete OFTP2 Interoperability testing. The OFTP2 Interoperability tests, designed by ODETTE, aim to ensure flawless communication between the various OFTP2 software packages available on the market. For companies wishing to implement OFTP2 this new service means that they can rely on the proven interoperability of software which has been tested against ODETTE specifications, making the job of software selection that much easier.
Data Interchange is one of the core developers that participated in the development of the OFTP2 specification, has proven the interoperability of their OFTP2 products and has successfully completed the tests. Other software vendors may offer OFTP2 software; however, products have not been tested and ODETTE cannot make any statement about their interoperability and compliance with the specification RFC5024.

Data Interchange's solutions serve thousands of companies globally within such industries as automotive, financial services, healthcare, pharmaceutical, consumer products and government. Data Interchange's certified solutions include:
-
EPIC – A high throughput, resilient B2B platform based upon a load-balancing / resilient architecture
-
ODEX Enterprise – A scalable gateway solution allowing consolidation of different connection methods
-
DARWIN 4 – A B2B order management solution for Supplier EDI
"As one of the authors of OFTP2 specification, Data Interchange is at the forefront of standards development," said Ewan Friend, Managing Director, Data Interchange. "ODETTE's certification demonstrates our continued investment in one of the most widely-adopted messaging standards across the globe and highlights our ongoing commitment to industry standards."
June 2009 - PSA Peugeot Citroën have recently started to offer OFTP2 as a new tool for CAD Data exchange between themselves and their suppliers. Such suppliers would previously have used an ISDN connection, which involves a very high data transfer cost.
OFTP2 allows file transmission over the internet with total security based on cryptographic technology and digital certificates. This solution ensures traceability and greater reliability, in particular thanks to the possibility of automatic recovery in the event of an interruption of the internet network.
